Yoga Retreats California #5

Sivananda Yoga Farm, Grass Valley, California

Have you heard Sivananda Yoga? If not you might want to do a little research on it before booking a retreat here. It was founded by Swami Sivananda and there are 9 Ashrams around the world. This location in California is one of those special places, where you can obtain a teaching certificate to teach Sivananda Yoga. It’s style is less demanding than something like Ashtanga or Bikram Yoga. Although it is less physically demanding the routine schedule of your stay can be a challenge for some. You wake at 5:30am for morning satsang and a 2 hour asana and pranayama followed by vegetarian brunch. You then have Karma Yoga- a selfless service to the Ashram followed by another Yoga class at 4pm, Then it’s time for dinner and lastly evening satsang. Note you’re only eating 2 times per day.

Know before you go: This is a modest community- it is asked that you cover shoulders and  do not ever display nudity. Please wear loose fitting clothes that are comfortable and simple (ie your tight yoga pants are a no no here)

Please note they do take their Karma Yoga seriously, you will be required to do this and it will not be overlooked.
