Yoga at Macalla farm
(Clare Island, Co Mayo, Ireland)
Eco-friendly, family run yoga and meditation retreat centre located on a 240 acres farm on Clare Island, off the West coast of Ireland. Very peaceful location with stunning sea and mountain views. We have been running retreats at the farm since 2001
The accommodation is mostly in twin / double rooms in a renovated island cottage and its modern extension, and the 50 sqm yoga studio is in a modern timber building nearby.
We serve outstanding organic vegetarian food, mostly from ingredients produced on the farm.
The resident teachers, Christophe and Ciara have many years of experience teaching yoga retreats in Ireland and abroad. Their practice and teaching have been influenced by a number of yoga styles, particularly ashtanga vinyasa and atma vikasa. Ciara also studied Vanda Scaravelli's teachings under the guidance of Rossella Baroncini. Christophe originally trained as a Iyengar teacher in the 90s and has also been studying pranayama and various styles of Bhuddist meditation for many years. Ciara is a trained mindfulness teacher.
Both Christophe and Ciara have ridden, owned, bred and trained horses for many years, and Christophe is a certified facilitator in Equine Assisted Learning with EAGALA and we offer courses combining yoga, mindfulness and work with horses.
The centre offers various courses for all levels with resident and sometimes visiting teachers as well as the possibility to do personal retreats when no courses are running.
Price: Depending on the retreat, price is around 120 euros / day and include full board accommodation and teaching.
Non yoga partners are welcome.
Note that we are on a small offshore island with no airport, so difficult to get to. If you want to get away from it all, you first have to get there :)
